Positive interaction between parents and teachers is encouraged at Scoil Phádraig. Our Parents’ Association is made up of two elected parents from each class, two teacher representatives and the School Principal. The Association meets once a month during the school year. A central aim of the P.A. is to develop a good working partnership between school and home. It organises some social events and extra-curricular activities for the children. It also arranges for speakers to visit the school and talk on topics of interest in promoting the educational needs of the children. There are two Parents’ Representatives on the Board of Management.

Parent - Teacher Meetings

Parent-teacher meetings are held during the school year. Parents are welcome to meet with their child’s class teacher at any time and as often as necessary. To facilitate this, it is best to make an appointment through the Secretary’s office in advance.

New Pupils

Children may be admitted in the September following their fourth birthday, but we recommend that children should have reached their fourth birthday by the previous April.

Fun Activities

Believe it! School days can be the happiest days of your life. Many of the fun activities in Scoil Phádraig will become “happy memories” in the future. No matter how hectic his schedule, Santa never fails to visit the boys and girls in our school. The Easter Bunny also finds time to drop in.  We have fostered a great love of music throughout the school and encourage all pupils to develop their musical skills. Any outsider visiting our school during any festive season would be impressed by the artwork and general atmosphere within the school.

Green School

Our school was one of the first schools in Mayo to attain the Green School status. We continue to be enthusiastic participants in the National Green School’s Program. In doing so we strive to develop within the children responsible attitudes and practices which will enhance our environment. The project teaches the children about effective waste management and the reduction of energy consumption within the school community. The Green School’s Committee comprises of representatives from each class with parents and teachers working with the children in developing our Green School.

Scoil Phádraig promotes a healthy lifestyle which is a central aim of the school. We are proud of our vibrant Gaelic Football Teams which have won many competitions at county level. Pupils are encouraged to be active and participate in sport in conjunction with local Sports Bodies.
