WORLD DAY FOR CONSECRATED LIFE AND
CANDLEMAS DAY FEB. 2ND
At the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple he was revealed as the light to enlighten all nations. Candles will be blessed at Weekend Masses
“Bless these candles and make them holy.
Loving God, accept the prayers of your people, who will use these candles in praise of your name, that they may walk in the path of goodness until they reach that light which never fails.”
You are encouraged to bring along candles you wish to have blessed.
In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted a day for women and men in consecrated life. This global celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. The Feast is also known as Candlemas, the day on which candles are blessed symbolising Christ who is the light of the world. So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all Peoples.
